A stepwise thermal treatment process for the recovery of uranium phosphate from uranium-dissolved spent TBP was demonstrated. The pathway of the reactions involved in the thermal decomposition and oxidation processes of uranium-bearing spent TBP was established based on the results of thermogravimetric analyses. Relatively low-temperature pyrolysis is required to avoid the condensation of corrosive phosphoric acid via vaporization. Low-temperature pyrolysis residue was analyzed and found to be composed of pyrocarbon, phosphorus oxide (P2O5) and two types of uranium phosphate (UP2O7 and UP4O12). Uranium pyrophosphate (UP2O7) was recovered from the burning out of pyrocarbon in the pyrolysis residue after the dissolution removal of phosphorus oxide in water. A substantial recovery of uranium by the proposed stepwise thermal treatment method was successfully demonstrated by a treatment of pyrolysis residue from a bench-scale low-temperature pyrolysis process.  相似文献

Contaminants are ubiquitous in the environment and their impacts are of increasing concern due to human population expansion and the generation of deleterious effects in aquatic species. Oxidative stress can result from the presence of persistent organic pollutants, metals, pesticides, toxins, pharmaceuticals, and nanomaterials, as well as changes in temperature or oxygen in water, the examined species, with differences in age, sex, or reproductive cycle of an individual. The antioxidant role of glutathione (GSH), accompanied by the formation of its disulfide dimer, GSSG, and metabolites in response to chemical stress, are highlighted in this review along with, to some extent, that of glutathione S-transferase (GST). The available literature concerning the use and analysis of these markers will be discussed, focusing on studies of aquatic organisms. The inclusion of GST within the suite of biomarkers used to assess the effects of xenobiotics is recommended to complement that of lipid peroxidation and mixed function oxygenation. Combining the analysis of GSH, GSSG, and conjugates would be beneficial in pinpointing the role of contaminants within the plethora of causes that could lead to the toxic effects of reactive oxygen species.  相似文献

Amelioration of acidic soil using various renewable waste resources   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In this study, improvement of acidic soil with respect to soil pH and exchangeable cations was attempted for sample with an initial pH of approximately 5. Acidic soil was amended with various waste resources in the range of 1 to 5 wt.% including waste oyster shells (WOS), calcined oyster shells (COS), Class C fly ash (FA), and cement kiln dust (CKD) to improve soil pH and exchangeable cations. Upon treatment, the soil pH was monitored for periods up to 3 months. The exchangeable cations were measured after 1 month of curing. After a curing period of 1 month, a maize growth experiment was conducted with selected-treated samples to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The treatment results indicate that in order to increase the soil pH to a value of 7, 1 wt.% of WOS, 3 wt.% of FA, and 1 wt.% of CKD are required. In the case of COS, 1 wt.% was more than enough to increase the soil pH value to 7 because of COS's strong alkalinity. Moreover, the soil pH increases after a curing period of 7 days and remains virtually unchanged thereafter up to 1 month of curing. Upon treatment, the summation of cations (Ca, Mg, K, and Na) significantly increased. The growth of maize is superior in the treated samples rather than the untreated one, indicating that the amelioration of acidic soil is beneficial to plant growth, since soil pH was improved and nutrients were replenished.  相似文献

A total of 192 papers are reviewed. The article intends to serve three goals. First, it will be useful to researchers who wish to know what kinds of questions have been raised and how they have been addressed in the areas of simulation modelling for sustainability. Second, the article will be a useful resource for searching research topics. Third, it will serve as a comprehensive bibliography of the papers published during the period. Quality improvement of acidic soil (with an initial pH of approximately 4.5) with respect to soil pH, exchangeable cations, organic matter content, and maize growth was attempted using natural (NSF) and calcined starfish (CSF). Acidic soil was amended with NSF and CSF in the range of 1 to 10 wt.% to improve soil pH, organic matter content, and exchangeable cations. Following the treatment, the soil pH was monitored for periods up to 3 months. The exchangeable cations were measured after 1 month of curing. After a curing period of 1 month, the maize growth experiment was performed with selected treated samples to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment. The results show that 1 wt.% of NSF and CSF (700 and 900 °C) were required to increase the soil pH to a value higher than 7. In the case of CSF (900 °C), 1 wt.% was sufficient to increase the soil pH value to 9 due to the strong alkalinity in the treatment. No significant changes in soil pHs were observed after 7 days of curing and up to 3 months of curing. Upon treatment, the cation exchange capacity values significantly increased as compared to the untreated samples. The organic content of the samples increased upon NSF treatment, but it remains virtually unchanged upon CSF treatment. Maize growth was greater in the treated samples rather than the untreated samples, except for the samples treated with 1 and 3 wt.% CSF (900 °C), where maize growth was limited due to strong alkalinity. This indicates that the amelioration of acidic soil using natural and calcined starfish is beneficial for plant growth as long as the application rate does not produce alkaline conditions outside the optimal pH range for maize growth.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a ring-rolling simulation technique, with emphasis on remeshing capabilities. The technique is based on a dual-mesh approach, in which a finite element analysis model is divided into fine sectors and coarse sectors, and three different kinds of remeshing are used. The first of these, which is obligatory, replaces a coarse sector with a fine sector when the coarse sector approaches a plastic deformation zone. The second and third kinds, which are introduced in this study, respectively involve changing the number of sectors and changing the grid system of the frames used to construct the sectors. These remeshing schemes are discussed in detail, and several applications are utilized to demonstrate their characteristics and capabilities in the dual-mesh approach to ring-rolling simulations.  相似文献

This study examines the adsorption isotherms, kinetics and mechanisms of Pb2(+) sorption onto waste cow bone powder (WCBP) surfaces. The concentrations of Pb2(+) in the study range from 10 to 90 mg/L. Although the sorption data follow the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm, a detailed examination reveals that surface sorption or complexation and co-precipitation are the most important mechanisms, along with possibly ion exchange and solid diffusion also contributing to the overall sorption process. The co-precipitation of Pb2(+) with the calcium hydroxyapatite (Ca-HAP) is implied by significant changes in Ca2(+) and PO?3? concentrations during the metal sorption processes. The Pb2(+) sorption onto the WCBP surface by metal complexation with surface functional groups such as ≡ POH. The major metal surface species are likely to be ≡ POPb(+). The sorption isotherm results indicated that Pb2(+) sorption onto the Langmuir and Freundlich constant q(max) and K( F ) is 9.52 and 8.18 mg g?1, respectively. Sorption kinetics results indicated that Pb2(+) sorption onto WCBP was pseudo-second-order rate constants K? was 1.12 g mg?1 h?1. The main mechanism is adsorption or surface complexation (≡POPb(+): 61.6%), co-precipitation or ion exchange [Ca?(.)?? Pb?(.)?? (PO?)? (OH): 21.4%] and other precipitation [Pb 50 mg L?1 and natural pH: 17%). Sorption isotherms showed that WCBP has a much higher Pb2(+) removal rate in an aqueous solution; the greater capability of WCBP to remove aqueous Pb2(+) indicates its potential as another promising way to remediate Pb2(+)-contaminated media.  相似文献

Automatic model checking is used to determine the error-free design of the SIS (Safety Instrumented System) and to find the logical errors in the chemical processes. It proposes an automatic technique to provide and to modify the P&ID design of SIS control logics. This method can be applied to verify its correctness of SIS and to find the logical errors by synthesizing a feasible sequence automatically. The mediated electrochemical oxidation (MEO) process using cerium(IV) in methanesulphonic acid (MSA) as the oxidizing medium was employed for the mineralization of phenol in batch and continuous feeding modes. Although nitric acid was an extensively studied electrolyte for organic mineralization reactions in MEO processes it does possess the problem of NO(x) gas production during the reduction of nitric acid in the cathode compartment of the electrochemical cell. This problem could be circumvented by proper choice of the electrolyte medium such as MSA. The mediator cerium in MSA solution was first oxidized to higher oxidation state using an electrochemical cell. The produced Ce(IV) oxidant was then used for the destruction of phenol. It was found that phenol could be mineralized to CO2 by Ce(IV) in MSA. The evolved CO2 was continuously measured and used for the calculation of destruction efficiency. The destruction efficiency was observed to be 85% based on CO2 evolution for 1000 ppm phenol solution at 80 degrees C in continuous feed mode.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of long chain fatty acids (LCFAs) removal as a pretreatment prior to anaerobic digestion on the production of methane from food waste. The results showed that the anaerobic digestion of food waste containing 1.6 g COD/L of LCFAs was not inhibited (4 days lag-time, 78.3 % methane recovery in 35 days) compared to that of lipid free food waste (3 days lag time, 72.5 % methane recovery in 35 days); however, some unsaturated LCFAs, which are toxic to microorganism, were accumulated in the batch anaerobic digestion reactor. Meanwhile, in a methanogenic activity study, the activity of methanogens was observed to be linearly inhibited by the presence of more than 1 g COD/L of LCFAs. The possibility of the accumulation of unsaturated LCFAs in the reactor should be considered when operating a large-scale continuous system.  相似文献
